Colombia’s Vice Minister of Tourism Joins WhereNext as Chief Strategy Officer

Julián Guerrero, former Colombian Vice Minister of Tourism and President of the Colombia Film Promotion Committee, joins the global creative agency and production company WhereNext as Partner and Chief Strategy Officer.
Seattle, WA. (For Immediate Release) – After four-and-a-half years as Colombia’s Vice-Minister of Tourism and Vice President of Tourism for ProColombia, Julián Guerrero joins the global creative agency and production company WhereNext. Guerrero broadens WhereNext’s ability to serve international clients wanting to produce world-class projects in Latin American and Latin American companies desiring to expand to global markets.

Guerrero will oversee the agency’s consulting services division for Tourism and Economic Development. His broad film industry experience, which includes his time as President and a member of the Colombia Film Promotion Committee, will strengthen WhereNext’s position as a leading production company focused on adventure, travel, nature, and outdoor lifestyle. He will be based out of WhereNext’s Bogotá office.

About Julián Guerrero Orozco
Julián Guerrero is a lawyer from Bogotá’s Javeriana University. He holds master's degrees in International Relations from the London School of Economics, Film Studies from the American University, and Literary Criticism from the Caro y Cuervo Institute. He is a certified Royal Yacht Association Skipper and an Interpretive Guides Society certified Nature Guide.
He was Colombia’s Vice Minister of Tourism between 2019 and 2021 and ProColombia’s Vice President of Tourism between 2017 and 2019. His achievements include the issuance of the General Tourism Law (Law 2068/2020), the publication of the country’s Sustainable Tourism Policy, and creating the international campaign “Visit Colombia: Feel the Rhythm.” In addition, he executive produced the documentary film “The Birders'' and developed the “Illustrated Manual for Nature Tourism Guides in Colombia.” He has been both the President and a member of the Colombia Film Promotion Committee.

Sobre Julián Guerrero Orozco
Julián Guerrero, es abogado de la Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá. Cuenta con maestrías en relaciones internacionales de London School of Economics, estudios de cine en American University y crítica literaria en el Instituto Caro y Cuervo. Está certificado como capitán por la Royal Yacht Association y como guía de naturaleza por la Interpretive Guides Society.
Fue Viceministro de Turismo de Colombia entre 2019 y 2021, y Vicepresidente de Turismo de ProColombia entre 2017 y 2019. Entre sus logros se destacan la expedición de la Ley General de Turismo (Ley 2068/2020), la publicación de la primera Política de Turismo Sostenible, y la realización de la campaña internacional Visita Colombia: Siente el Ritmo. Además, fue productor ejecutivo del documental “The Birders” y desarrolló el “Manual ilustrado para guías de turismo de naturaleza en Colombia”. Ha sido presidente y miembro del Comité de Promoción Fílmica Colombia.
