To celebrate the launch of the Kinetic ICE+ and champion those making a difference in cold working environments, Cat Footwear is releasing a documentary on the hard-working people of Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding.

ROCKFORD, Mich. (For Immediate Release) – At any time of the year, the number-one cause of workplace injuries is falling down. Workplace risks are significantly higher in construction during winter weather conditions with slippery snow and ice. Which is why Cat Footwear, innovators of modern work boots and shoes, today announced the launch of the Kinetic ICE+ Work Boot, a new extreme winter-weather boot designed to protect people who work in dangerous cold, wet, and icy conditions—yet styled for everyday use and comfort.

Recognizing the need for a boot that provides both protection and performance during the winter—and empowers people to perform with excellence under even the most intense cold environments—Cat Footwear engineered the tough Kinetic ICE+, with its Vibram Arctic Grip Pro providing best-in-class traction, augmented by waterproof leathers, 200 grams of insulation, a protective composite toe, and a lightweight midsole.

During the 2018 polar vortex, Cat Footwear traveled to Sturgeon Bay, WI, to document the brave, intelligent, and hardworking people behind the large-scale, extreme winter work at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding. With the release of the short film Conquering Winter Work, Cat Footwear will showcase the drive, resilience, and ingenuity it takes to repair 1,000-foot ships in under two months. To celebrate the new winter season at Fincantieri, Cat Footwear will be hosting a viewing party of the documentary for the Sturgeon Bay community.

“Cat Footwear is known for innovation and solving common problems with work boots, so extending our expertise to design a performance boot for winter work was a challenge we felt equipped and experienced to tackle,” said Cat Footwear–Work Senior Brand Marketing Manager Garrett McGuire. “There are many people working in extreme winter conditions but not enough people who appreciate the equipment and expertise it takes to get these jobs done. What makes Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding special is the optimism and sense of community these workers bring to their jobs every day. With this viewing party, we want to focus on celebrating FBS as they enter a new winter season but also use this opportunity to recognize winter workers all over the world and let them know their accomplishments don’t go unnoticed.”

The Cat Footwear Kinetic ICE+ Composite Toe Boot is now available online and from select retailers in a variety of colors for $180 USD.
