Our Multitalented Digital Marketing Manager

Meet our Colombia production company’s Digital Marketing Manager, Matilde Espinosa, or Mati, as she’s better known around the office. Mati studied advertising with a focus on design and digital marketing. She has managed many of our most successful client marketing campaigns, including the rollout of Colombia Me Inspira the travel and events hub designed to help Colombia’s tourism community amplify its voice during the pandemic. She also produces WhereNext’s social media, digital marketing assets, campaign analysis, and proposal media. On the weekends, she further exercises her many skills and interests while living a second life as a dairy farmer on her farm just outside of Bogota.

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Matilde Espinosa. I am 27 years old, and I’m the digital marketing manager here at WhereNext. I consider myself a creative person, so I love brainstorming for our campaigns and strategies. I have lived all my life in the countryside near Bogotá. My father is a vet, and my mother a zootechnician, so they taught me to love nature, animals, and farming. So two years ago, I decided to raise my own cattle in Suesca, north of the city. I can say I really love cows.

Tell us about your most memorable travel experience.

My most memorable travel experience was in 2018. I went to Melbourne, Australia, and lived there for almost a year. It was memorable because I had never been so far away from Colombia and my family. I also had the chance to visit Sydney and New Zealand. I absolutely loved Australia: the people, the animals, and the infinite landscapes. I can still remember all the streets in Melbourne like it was yesterday. I hope to go back one day.

Dead or alive, who would you like to join you on an adventure?

I’d go anywhere with Nicolas, my partner in my Mexican and Australian adventures. I love exploring places with him. We have the same taste for music and food, so I feel at home when I’m with him.

What are your travel equipment essentials?

My travel essentials are any camera where I can record memories, a notebook for jotting down ideas, good music on my phone, an enjoyable book to help me disconnect, and gummy bears just because I love gummy bears.

When did you feel happiest?

I feel the happiest when my business partners and I found the right place to start our cattle business. I love Suesca; the peace you feel when you’re surrounded by nature and animals is quite surreal.

Who taught you your biggest life lesson, and what was it?

My father taught me to love everything I do. He is a vet, and he is passionate about his job. So I put a bit of my heart into everything I do, whether it’s for my digital marketing job or raising my cattle.

You can teleport to any restaurant on earth: where do you go and what do you order?

I would go back in time to my first weekend in Melbourne. I remember we went to a pizza place at St. Kilda’s beach. I don’t really know if the pizza was that good, but that place and that moment felt just right.

Tell us about the most adventurous food you ever ate?

I’m very picky about food. But I can definitely say that the most adventurous food I ever ate was kangaroo. I don’t think it’s that weird, but I couldn’t enjoy it because I kept thinking about the kangaroo’s face.

Drink of choice?

It depends on the time of day. Early in the morning, I can’t skip a good cup of coffee. With meals, I like any juice, especially tomate de árbol (Tamarillo). I know everyone hates that juice, but I love it. And for a night out I like beer or aguardiente.

Where do you feel most at home?

I feel most at home surrounded by cows at my cattle farm. They are amazing animals, and they are so gentle and kind, and they give us cheese! I can’t imagine a world without cheese.
