Friday, February 22, 2008 - Silos is a collection of, well, grain silos that I've taken while driving around various parts of Eastern Oregon and Norther California. I find them interesting because they have a sort of modern/minimalist design to them, yet are in very rural parts of the country.
Friday, January 11, 2008 - Highway 97 is a stretch of road that runs north and south through central Oregon. I grew up on the southern tip of 97 and have always felt a strong connection to the landscape and the lifestyle. As a youngster it seemed so gray, remote and downtrodden. As an adult I'm drawn to the vastness of the high-desert landscape and the simplicity of the rural Oregon lifestyle. This is an ongoing photo-essay exploring a unique stretch of road that cuts through one of the most sparsely populated regions of the U.S.
Thursday, January 10, 2007 - Just added the Twigs collection. Shot with my relatively new (to me) Pentax 645 with a 44mm lens and Fuji 160c color negative film. I had the itch to go shoot, but man, this Portland winter has been wet and dark. The only light I could find was looking directly up at the clouds at the park near my house. Those damn trees kept getting in my way. Is it lame to shoot color negative film only to turn it black and white in Photoshop? Not when you're saving five bucks in processing! Hey, at least I didn't apply a brush-stroke filter.
Wednesday, January 9, 2007 - The Industrial Portland collection is a series of shots that were all taken while riding my bike through various sections of Portland, Oregon. I find the combination of cycling and photography to be a brilliant coming together of art and exercise. There's a rhythm and pace to cycling that allows me to really get "in the zone" while shooting. You can cover more ground than on foot, and it's not as cumbersome as driving where you have to stop, park, get out, etc. It's very stimulating and very fun. I highly recommend it.
Friday, October 5, 2007 - Thanks to everybody who stopped by the opening last night. Special thanks to Ben and Heidi Andrews for providing the cupcakes and TwoBuckChuck.
Thursday, October 4, 2007 - I've got about a dozen photos showing this month at my good friend Ben Andrew's office in the Pearl. It's a former art gallery, so the space is perfect for an art show. If you're in the neighborhood, stop by 612 NW 12th Ave, across from Oba and 24hr Fitness. Special thanks to Molly for helping me edit, frame and hang the prints.
Monday, Setptember 10, 2007 - Slowly becoming addicted to Flickr.
